Head Coach: Steph Calabrese
|
CT Grizzlies Navy
|
Breakout candidates: Catherine Duggan (D - Uncommitted), Skye Ekern (M - Uncommitted), Gwen Golce (D - Uncommitted), Kennison Harmon (G - Uncommitted)
Potential X-Factors: Sarah Jacques (A/M - Committed to Northwestern), Maddie Joyce (M - Committed to Brown), Tate Paulson (G - Committed to Syracuse)
Playstyle: Freelance/Run and Gun
Quote to remember: “We don't believe in the star system at all. And we expect the girls to be passing all the time. We really try to harp on the assist is as good as the goal and making the lane is more important than both.” - Steph Calabrese, CT Grizzlies co-owner and 2020 Head Coach
With numerous players heading to high division-I schools next fall, the Grizzlies 2020s are a skilled group that also plays together. The attack group specifically is stacked, as aside from Jacques, who Calabrese pointed out as key to the team’s success, there’s Taylor Lane (committed to Yale) and Jordan Vaught (committed to Virginia), among others. They’ll also get some offensive firepower from the midfield. Kyle Kirby (committed to Notre Dame) will play both attack and middie and take some draws while Ashley Humphrey (committed to Stanford) is also an attacker with draw control skill. Calabrese said her midfielders really make a difference, and the group is strengthened by the play of Ekern and Kathleen Cozzi (committed to William and Mary) as well. Duggan and Dolce will handle some of the defensive duties in front of a trio of goalies, led by Paulson. The Syracuse commit is joined by Harmon and Amelia Cunningham in the cage, and Calabrese expects a big summer out of the group.
